Rotterdam, July 14th 2021 – Did you know that 3,062 marine accidents occurred in the EU in 2019? Have you heard that 10% of firefighter deaths in the US took place during live training in 2019? At VSTEP we care about people. We are genuinely concerned about the accidents happening in the industries and strive to minimize these precedents.
What’s the world facing?
It does not come as a surprise that sailors and firefighters put their lives on the line, even during their early training. It can be argued that the initial training can hold major risk due to the lack of experience of students and them being unaccustomed to vehicles, tools, and scenes.
In March 2021, in an unfortunate accident off San Clemente Island, a sailor died seafaring vehicle during training (Source: Mercury News). After this accident, all open water-based training there was suspended.
How can this be prevented? How can the number of accidents be lessened? How can sailors or first responders train effectively, yet safely?
These are the questions we ask ourselves at VSTEP.
How do we raise up to the challenge?
At VSTEP, we acknowledge these problems and zealously contribute to solving them. We work hard on closing the gaps in training by developing innovative solutions, such as NAUTIS Simulators for maritime industry and Response Simulators for first responders.
This way, we enable our clients to learn through simulation. They can simulate environments and objects and play various scenarios applicable to their training needs. Due to our excellent quality 3D graphics and realistic visuals and sounds, trainees can practice and polish their skills under terrible weather conditions or emergency situations. As we hear from our clients, this turns out to be successful in terms of preparing students for real-world adversities.
