22/07/2025 – VSTEP delivered its first inland simulator in Switzerland to the Port of Basel, marking a key step forward in inland navigation training. The setup includes advanced features like dual radar and TrackPilot integration. 

In Birsfelden near Basel, the Port Authority has taken a major step forward in professionalizing training for inland navigation.  

In December 2024, they commissioned a next-generation inland simulator developed by VSTEP, the first of its kind in Switzerland for the company.  

“With this simulator, we are taking a major step forward in professionalizing inland navigation training,” says Lukas Sibler,  Deputy Head of Nautical Quality and Safety Management at Port of Basel. “It gives us a realistic and flexible tool to assess and prepare candidates for the Basel stretch.”
