16/06/2025 – VSTEP Simulation has signed a new agreement with Enkhuizen Nautical College to deliver a complete simulator package, marking the start of a new partnership with one of the Netherlands’ well-established private maritime institutes. The delivery includes GMDSS trainee stations, desktop navigation simulators and an instructor station, providing the school with an integrated environment for both communication and navigation training.
A new standard for training in Enkhuizen
The installation will replace an earlier installed infrastructure at the school and introduce new capabilities including radar and ECDIS functionality. With this upgrade, Enkhuizen Nautical College will be able to offer training that meets the latest technical and regulatory standards. Once approved by the ILT, the system will also support accredited education programs.
“This investment reflects the school’s ambition to expand its training portfolio and provide students with practical, high-quality simulation experiences. It also ensures we remain competitive in attracting new students in the changing maritime industry”, said Cosmo Wassenaar, Director at Enkhuizen Nautical College
Trust built over time
The partnership follows a long period of contact during which the VSTEP team worked closely with Enkhuizen Nautical College to develop a solution that met the school’s technical requirements and budget. Open communication and a shared commitment to quality and support were key factors throughout the process.
Confirming VSTEP as their simulation partner, Enkhuizen Nautical College is confident in the value of the proposed solution.
Expanding VSTEP’s role in Dutch maritime education
With this agreement, Enkhuizen Nautical College becomes the sixth maritime training institute in the Netherlands to implement VSTEP’s NAUTIS simulators. It further reinforces VSTEP’s role as a preferred partner for Dutch maritime education and highlights the company’s ability to deliver solutions that meet the specific needs of local institutions.
Looking ahead
This strategic initiative reflects VSTEP’s solid commitment to helping advance the maritime learning landscape. For Enkhuizen Nautical College, it opens the door to improved learning outcomes, broader course offerings, and a new level of operational readiness.
