For our client, Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Vocational College in Vietnam, VSTEP has successfully integrated third party Engine Room Simulator (ERS) software with the NAUTIS software. The integration makes sure that more than 1,000 students studying at one of the largest maritime schools in Vietnam can train their operational competences on the bridge and in the engine room simultaneously.
The Director of Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Vocational College is looking forward to the extended way of improving the students’ competences: “We were really looking forward to this moment. Our students have now the possibility of improving their competences in a cost-effective and sustainable way. Thanks to the guidance of VSTEP and their local partner, we are able to offer our students the best educational tools!”
Following the delivery in 2014 of a NAUTIS Full Mission Bridge Simulator and Desktop Simulator, the maritime school has chosen to expand their existing capacity with 10 Engine Room Desktop simulators and a Full Mission Engine Room Simulator. Both setups are equipped with their own instructor station. This project has been successfully delivered in cooperation with the professionals from the ERS supplier.
Bert Tuijl, VSTEP Simulator Engineer and former maritime simulator instructor, commented: “The synergy between bridge and engine room is a new requirement for students and the safety at sea. The cooperation between VSTEP and other maritime software companies makes sure that trainees are able to practice the emergency situations that are difficult and dangerous to train on operational ships. This is definitely a great first off!”
Pjotr van Schothorst, VSTEP CEO, emphasizes: “At VSTEP, we have a clear focus on maritime simulation products where our customers’ needs define our direction. The need for the integration for ERS is a great example of how we can serve and listen to our customers. Compliments to our team and partners!”
